We said
goodbye to our precious Syd the Wonderdog this afternoon at 2:40pm in the shade
of the maple tree in our backyard. It was such a peaceful passing. Praising God
for that. Words do not adequately express how incredibly sad we are. Thank you
to all for loving us and our dear Sydney so very well. We take comfort
trusting that he is now in a better place, playing with the other awesome dogs
who have passed before him, Babushka, Murphy, Mijo, and Scout to name a few.
I’ve never known a dog who prefers people to other animals. Or a dog who loves playing Frisbee and ball and chasing squirrels as much as Syd. He patiently has let me sob my eyes out in the thick fur of his neck, until I could breathe again. His big brown eyes are two of the sweetest I have ever seen. K wrote the following in 2006 & nothing really captures the essence of Sydney better:

The Tao of Syd
Stretch
Accept
treats when they are offered
Enjoy the
simple things
Forgive
easily
Play
often
Take naps
Always be
happy to meet people
Greet friends with a gift
Chase
away the
annoying things in life
Relax/Lay
in the sun
Sleep by
the fire
Rest in peace,
Syd. You will always be a part of our family.

How very hard this day has been. There are no words.... just hugs and memories. He exhaled his last breath here, and his next was heavenly air. So sorry for the huge loss . . . He was your dog, but he belonged to all of us that loved him and played with him, and walked with him, and gave treats to him, and scratched his neck and laid down and talked to him. We will all miss Syd the Wonder Dog.
Love you all, and praying for you.
